Mega Man gave Capcom the lifeforce and recognition they needed to even make Street Fighter a household name. SF2 was Street Fighter's break-away hit, and that wasn't until 1991.

Mega Man 2 was the MM series' 'break-away' hit, that was 1988. Also kind of disappointed that there was NO celebration whatsoever in Japan aside an exclusive X battle Memory for XOver (IMHO Over-1 is merely an X clone anyway) and all we get is XOver, MM1-6 are coming to eShop and we've got a fairly glitchy fan-game with Capcom of America's slapped on seal of approval.

This above point is especially infuriating when I just beat my first boss and there are no save points or passwords. I had to force Windows to close the game, thus losing my progress. I figured it would come back when I came back to the game as my active window. I tapped off the screen to check my email in Firefox, and the game's screen went black. Getting to Rolento was fine but Ryu made my computer want to puke. For me, it did freeze for a second when I got to Ryu. Ok, obviously we had a few glaring glitches that Capcom's QA did not catch whatsoever. It honestly brought a smile to my face and it's been a while since anything Mega Man related has brought a smile to my 1face at all. Like, traditionally hard like a good classic game should be. I also laughed my ass off when I heard Ryu's 8-bit versions of "Hadouken" and "Shoryuken". Mixing classic Mega Man tunes with SF tunes is awesome.
